Part of the Sustainable Urban Development series this article discusses the challenges of today's political and professional context within both the Netherlands and the Czech republic. It looks at these two quite small but socially and economically well developed European countries and compares their most significant characteristics of the past as well as recent and the current evolution concerning sustainable urban development.
