The book is the official catalogue of the exhibition entitled: "The New City. Italia-y-2026. Welcome to VEMA" which inaugurated the new Italian Pavilion on occasion of the 10^th International Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2006. The "y" in the title is meant to subliminally suggest the reading "Italy", as an extension of the country outside its own boundaries, a creative transcendence that is proving to be more and more necessary. The topic proposed by Franco Purini, in a project coordinated by Nicola Marzot, Margherita Petranzan and Livio Sacchi, is the design of a new city.
