Computer Aided Modelling / Manufacturing laboratory

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From the 24th of December till the 1st of January 2012, the CAMlab will be closed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CAMlab is a collection of machines for digital fabrication of scale model parts and parts for technical prototypes.

We have lasercutters, which will cut through plates of wood, paper and some plastics, from 0.1mm till a thickness of 6 mm. The cutting and engraving pattern is directed by your 2D-CAD drawing. First of all, read the tips and info in the orderform and use the template AutoCAD file for preparing your work. This example-file already shows you the right maximum drawing sizes and has the right colours and layers set-up.

A variety of materials can be cut with the lasercutters. The price is € 22,50 per hour of pure laseringtime. (you pay per minute). The time it takes to cut materials depends on the amount of cutting and engraving lines, the type of material and the thickness. Read the drawing manual for preparing proper AutoCAD-laserfiles and for estimating the costs, based on line lenghts.

All files you need are included in the lasercutting.zip [353kb - dd:21novt2011]

In the presentationperiods the waitinglist can be up to 3 weeks!! So make sure you hand in your file in time. Remember: we are NOT a commercial enterprise but merely providing a service!

An estimation of the current waiting-time can be found next to the CAMlab entrance.

Before you start please drop by to get advice between 9:00h and 11:00h at the CAM-lab. It is important to communicate your wishes so we can give better advice. Discuss on beforehand if lasercutting indeed is the right technique for the type and outlook of your model.

Questions? See the contact info.

------------------------------

For CNC milling you can contact Kevin Kamman (contact).

In the meantime you can have a look at the filepreparation instructions from our colleagues at TO&I: http://wiki.bk.tudelft.nl/toi-pedia/Milling

------------------------------

For 3d printing, you can ask for instructions by sending an email to Martijn Stellingwerff (contact).  We have two types of printers:

- the Z310 from Zcorp, which prints in starch powder.

- the Dimension Elite, which prints in ABS+ plastic.
