The chair of Architectural Design/Building Typology focuses on the development of design methods and building typologies.

From concept to product, the relationship between form, structure and function must be researched in its technical and societal context. Starting with a functional analysis, the committed data’s have to be linked with an architectural approach concerned with the development of descriptive and operational criteria out of handed down building forms. In this respect architecture, as art and science of designing and making buildings, aims at the improvement of the (future) cultural value of the built environment.

The chair of Building Typology plays a leading role within the Department of Architecture by actively acting on changing societal and scientific conditions in the national as well as the international framework. For different projects we work together with prominent universities in Europe, America and China.
